Abstract

The objective of this research was to investigate the causal relation between APBN (National Budget) deficit and inflation rate in Indonesia in the period of 1992-2004. The data used in this research were time series data. Thcy were analyzes by using causal Granger method. The finding of this research was there was no causal relation between APBN deficit and inflation level. In other words, APBN deficit and inflation level did not affect one another. They were caused among others by: the budget policy which was applied in 2000, the increase of petrol price (BBM) which influenced the increase of inflation rate, the increase of prices of goods and Service which imported raw materials used for domestic products, and the use of foreign loan which were used mainly more to pay previous foreign loan than to pay productive development projects.
