Abstract

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) there are 5.7 million irritant contact dermatitis diseases. In Indonesia, there are 66.3% incidence of irritant contact dermatitis. Based on data from the Health Office of South Sumatra Province, the number of people with irritant contact dermatitis was 66.68%. According to researchers observations, 80% of fish traders had complaints of irritant contact dermatitis. The purpose of this study is to determine the factors associated with irritant contact dermatitis. This study uses a cross sectional method. The sample in this study is fish traders in Perumnas Sako Palembang Market, who needed 55 samples selected based on simple random sampling method. The analysis shows that there is a significant relationship between length of contact (p = 0.000), history of skin disease (0.001) and history of allergy (0.002) with the incidence of irritant contact dermatitis in fish traders. The working period, personal hygiene, and use of PPE were not associated with the incidence of irritant contact dermatitis in fish traders. For fish traders it is advised not to work for> 8 hours or make changes when trading, fish traders who have a history of allergies to maintain their dietary intake and avoid foods that can cause allergies and monitor the condition of their hands and feet so they are not wet and damp by using a dryer such as cloth wipe
