Abstract

This research entitled "Public Relations Strategy of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of Sumbagtim in socializing the Illegal Cigarette Gempur Program. The Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of Sumbagtim is one of the regional offices of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, which covers the provinces of South Sumatra, Jambi and Bangka Belitung. At the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Sumbagtim, socializing the Illegal Cigarette Combat Program to the community is the task of the Public Relations Division. The purpose of this research is to find out how the strategies carried out by the Public Relations of the Directorate General of Custons and Excise of Sumbagtim in socializing the Illegal Cigarette Gempur Program. The theory used in this research is the PR strategy theory according to Ronald D. Smith (2017: 62) in the hook Strategic Plan for Public Relations. The theory used in this study consists of four dimensions, namely Formative Research, Strategy, Tactics, and Evaluative Research. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data collection process was carried out using in-depth interview techniques, non-participant observation, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that all dimensions of the public relations strategy theory are carried out well so that the results of this study state that the strategy carried out by the Public Relations of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of Sumbagtim in socializing the llegal Cigarette Gempur Program is good.
