Abstract

Peat if used as agricultural land, has another obstacle because it can change the stability of the soil and accelerate the decomposition of the peat so that it produces methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted into the air as a greenhouse gas. This study aims to determine the effect of limestone dolomite and urea fertilizer to the decrease of CO2 emissions in peat planted rice crops in various phases of growth are different. The hypothesis in this study is allegedly combination treatment limestone dolomite as much as 10 tons/ha and urea fertilizer as much as 125 kg/ha will produce CO2 emissions low on rice plants in peat soil. This research was conducted in a Greenhouse ATC Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, on the March to June 2020. Analysis of the emission of carbon dioxide is carried out in the laboratory of the Research institute of Agricultural Environment, Ministry of Agriculture Pati, Central Java. The design used in this research is completely Randomized Factorial Design (RALF) with two factors, namely dolomite and urea fertilizer. On the results of the study showed that the administration of urea fertilizer very significant effect on CO2 emissions, this is because the fertilizer urea can help plant growth such as height, number of tillers, and branches. A dose of 10 tons/ha of dolomite and a dose of 250 kg/ha of urea to produce CO2 gas emission low with a value of 51,21 mg/m2/day. As for suggestions that can be done to reduce CO2 emissions in peat soil treatment necessary dolomite 10 tons/ha and urea 250 kg/ha.
