Abstract

The study aims at identifying how the potency of each economic sector and its influence in Palembang City affects the PDRB growth in Palembang City. The data used in this study were the secondary data taken from BPS publications in the form of time series from 2000 to 2005. The analysis of the data was conducted using the Locations Quotient coefficient (LQ) and simple linear regression. The result of the calculation based on the Locations Quotient (LQ) in Palembang City provides an initial depiction that from 2000 to 2005 there were seven sectors of excellence namely Sector of Management Industry, Sector of Electricity, Gas, Clean Water, Sector of Construction, Sector of Trade, Hotel, and Restaurants, Sector of Transportation and Communication, Sector of Finance, Hiring, and Company Service, and Sector of Services. Based on the simple linear regression result, it concludes that the economic potency using LQ score does not significantly affect the economic growth.
