Abstract
Terminal illness is a condition in which the possibility to recover from disease and become healthy again. Terminal diseases include advanced cancer, kidney failure, heart failure, HIV / AIDS, stroke, and other diseases that have been receiving treatment for years but have not recovered. Characteristics of sociodemography in this study include age, sex, education, employment, ethnicity, and marital status. This study aims to determine the relationship of sociodemography with quality of life in the case of terminal illness in RSUP Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in January 2018. This research type is analytical survey with cross sectional design. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling counting 86 respondents. The data analysis technique used is alternative test from chi-square which includes Fisher test for 2x2 table consisting of sex variable, occupation and marital status, while Kolmogorov-Smirnov test for 2xK table consist of age, education, and tribe variable. The result showed that age, education and ethnic variables have p value = 0.0001 which statistically can be interpreted that there is correlation with quality of life of respondent, whereas gender variable has p value = 0,628, job has p value = 0,756, and marital status has a value of p = 0.860, which can be statistically interpreted that there is no relationship with the quality of life of respondents. So in this study not all sociodemographic characteristics are related to quality of life. It is hoped that subsequent research can develop other variables to be researched so that it is not limited to sociodemographic characteristics alone.
