Abstract

One of the complaints of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) is due to an awkward position during work activities. A jeweler job can also experience MSDs. The aim of this research is to study the level of ergonomic hazards in craftsmen workers in Tanjung Batu Village, Ogan Ilir Regency. This research is descriptive qualitative and observational through cross sectional approach. Data obtained from the modified interview results from Nanda (2019), the BRIEF survey sheet (Humantech Inc, 2002), and the Nordic Body Map questionnaire (Tarwaka, 2010). The sample was determined by purposive random sampling with 2 people as key informants and 5 people as informants. The level of ergonomic hazard for 9 parts of the worker's body is determined based on the BRIEF method (2002). The results of the interview showed that 100% of workers experienced complaints about the upper neck, lower neck, right shoulder, back, right elbow, right upper arm, and right forearm, while the results of the BRIEF sheet showed that the level of danger was high, namely complaints on the left elbow and right, left and right shoulders, neck, back, and the level of danger in the moderate category in the form of complaints on the right hand and wrist. It was concluded that a high level of risk for ergonomic hazards was found at all stages of work (melting, grinding, rolling, shaping of jewelry, and gilding). It is recommended that workers take a few moments (8-12 seconds) to stretch the muscles.
