Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic (Coronavirus Disease 2019) is an phenomenon that threatens public health and has attracted worldwide attention. Indonesia implements various health protocols to reduce the spread of COVID-19. One of the health protocol is physical distancing behavior which is expected to reduce the transmission rate of COVID-19 due to minimal contact. The purpose of this study was to analyze the physical distancing behavior on adolescents in Palembang City during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research method uses descriptive analytic method with quantitative approach and cross sectional design. The number of respondents in this study were 301 samples using the voluntary sampling method. Information was collected online via google form in January 2021. Data were analyzed using multiple logistic regression tests. The result of univariate analysis study indicate that good physical distancing behavior is carried out by 55.1% of respondents. The result of bivariate analysis showed that there were correlation between physical distancing behavior and gender, knowledge, attitude, education level, family support and public figure support. The results of multivariate analysis showed that the most dominant variable in influencing physical distancing behavior was family support p-value <0.0001 (<0.05) PR = 3.137; 95% CI = 1.910-5.153 controlled by gender, attitudes, knowledge, and education level variables. Conclusion of this research is that women were better at implementing physical distancing behavior. Family support is the most dominant factor in affecting physical distancing behavior. Suggestion that could be recommended are the need for strict supervision from the goverment of Palembang and involving adolescents as ambassadors for health protocols, especially physical distancing behavior, increasing family support through cadre training supervised by community leaders.
