Abstract
Tin is one of the most valuable minerals found in Indonesia and is often found in the form of deposits alluvial with the mineral cassiterite (SnO2). To obtain tin deposits, it is necessary to carry out mining activities, this mining activity produces low levels of Sn, usually around 20%. So it is necessary to carry out the mineral processing to increase grade of Sn to make it economical. In this study, to increase the grade of Sn in tin sand was carried out using willobi and using water as the separation medium. The use of this tool is intended so that the tin sand content increases and can meet the standard of smelter with 72-74% Sn content.In this study, the analysis of the increase tin grade in the mineral processing using the willobi by varying the size of the cross-sectional area of willobi and also the speed of feeding. Based on research conducted using the willobi, it was found that an increase in Sn grade could meet standards smelter. There were 3 experiments that had Sn grade in accordance with standards smelter in the experiment with a cross-sectional area of 400cm2 with aspeed of feeding 1kg / 8 minutes with a Sn content of 72.25% and a recovery of 89.20%. Then in the experiment with a tool cross-sectional area measuring 400cm2 with aspeed of feeding 1kg / 10 minutes with a Sn content of 72.03% with avalue recovery of 89.69% and in an experiment with a tool cross-sectional area measuring 625cm2 with aspeed of feeding 1kg/8. minutes with a Sn content of 72.17% and a recovery of 91.13%. For the weight of Sn in losses for each experiment carried out ranged from 0.3 to 0.9 gr with a range % losses resulting from the separation process ranged from 0.06% -0.16%.
