Abstract

One of the uses of silica sand is in the manufacture of cement because it contains silica (SiO2) which serves as the mixing of the main ingredients of cement. Silica sand used for the cement-making process must fulfill the Indonesian National Standard regulated in (SNI-15-2049-2004). The research was conducted using the willobi with the variables defined as parameters, water flow rate and feeding speed. The water discharge used in the study was 19 L / minute, 23 L / minute, 30 L / minute, 35 L / minute, and 40 L / minute. The feeding speed used was 5 kg / hour, 6 kg / hour, 7.5 kg / hour, 10 kg / hour, 15 kg / hour. The results of the experiment were then performed a grain counting analysis to obtain a SiO2 of ≥ 90,52% as raw material for cement manufacturing. The results of the analysis of SiO2 assay in the feed were 84.80%. The greater the water discharge, the concentration tends to increase. The greater the feeding speed, the lower the concentration of concentrate. Based on the research results, it can also be seen that the greater the water discharge, the recovery tends to decrease and the greater the feeding speed, the recovery tends to increase. Based on the results of the study, there were 6 experiments that resulted in silica sand content that met the requirements for raw material for cement making. The best application of water flow rate for willobi is 35 L / minute, while the best feeding speed is 6 kg / hour. In this condition, the silica concentrate content was 90.76% and the recovery was 72.57%.
