Abstract

Non tidal swamp is one of the lands that has considerable prospects and potential to be used as an area for agricultural production. One type of plant that allows cultivation on lowland swamps is the cucumber plant. Fertilization is one way to increase crop yields. One of the materials that can be used as a basis for making liquid organic fertilizer is waste from the tofu industry. Tofu liquid waste comes from the washing, soaking, boiling, filtering, pressing and printing processes of tofu. Tofu liquid waste can be used as an alternative material for making organic fertilizers. This is because this waste has the availability of nutrients needed by plants. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the growth and yield of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L) cultivation by utilizing liquid organic fertilizer (POC) derived from tofu industrial waste in nontidal swamp growing media. This research was conducted from October 2020 to January 2021 in the Greenhouse of Experimental Garden, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. Sample analysis was carried out at the Laboratory of Chemistry, Biology and Soil Fertility, Department of Soil, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This research was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments, namely: P0: POC dose of 0 ml / Polybag (Control), P1: POC dose of 25 ml / Polybag (65000 L Ha-1), P2: POC dose of 50 ml / polybag (13000 L Ha-1), P3: POC 75 ml / polybag (19500 L Ha-1), P4: POC 100 ml / polybag (26 000 L Ha1). Each treatment unit was repeated three times and so there were 15 treatment units. Each treatment was given a sample of 3 samples, in order to obtain a total plant of 45 plants. The results showed that the liquid organic fertilizer (poc) of tofu industrial waste had no significant effect on the growth of plant length, number of leaves, leaf area, green level of leaves, length of fruit and number of fruits. This is thought to be caused by the lack of nutrients found in the tofu industrial waste used and the low pH of the lowland swamp growing media. However, the application of liquid organic fertilizer (poc) from tofu industrial waste had a significant effect on the fruit weight of the cucumber plant. DMRT further test results showed that the application of liquid organic fertilizer at a dose of 25 ml / polybag (65000 L / Ha) was the best treatment for cucumber plant fruit weight variables. Therefore, in this study it can be concluded that the treatment of tofu industrial waste liquid organic fertilizer (POC) has no significant effect on the variables of plant length, number of leaves, leaf area, fruit length, number of fruit, green level of leaves and fruit circumference. in cucumber plants, while the treatment of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) from tofu industrial waste gave results that had a significant effect on fruit weight variables of cucumber plants and giving a dose of 25 ml (6500 L / ha) was the best treatment.
