Abstract

This study was to determine the anticancer activity of seagrass (Halodule uninervis) by using a single extraction based on the polarity level, namely 70% ethanol and 96% ethanol. This research was carried out from May 2020 to January 2021. Several stages were carried out including sampling, sample preparation, sample extraction, and then quantitative phytochemical test and anticancer tests were carried out. Extraction was carried out by maceration with 70% ethanol and 96% ethanol as solvents. The parameters observed were the anticancer activity test and phytochemical test quantitatively including flavonoid levels. This research was conducted in an experimental laboratory and data analysis was carried out descriptively, namely by describing the results of each tested parameter. Laboratory experimental results and descriptive data analysis on the anticancer activity test of seagrass extracts with single extraction using 70% ethanol and 96% ethanol as solvents were declared inactive as anticancer. The quantitative phytochemical test of flavonoid levels was greatest in non-stratified extraction using 70% ethanol solvent. The results showed that the seagrass extract was not active as an anticancer and had a low flavonoid phytochemical value. keyword : Anticancer, seagrass ecxtract, phytochemical
