Abstract
Airfoil is a special form used as a fundamental form in aircraft wings which divided in two different kinds symmetrical and asymmetrical. Airfoil used to generate lift force from the differential pressure value of bottom side and upper side in aircraft wings. The lift force that generate by the airfoil form can also affected by angle of attack. This research has a purpose to know the impact in lift and drag force from the variation of angle of attack and also to know pressure and velocity distribution by the variation of angle of attack. This research had been done with CFD method and simulated on NACA 0012 with 0°, 6°, 9°, 12°, and 15° angle variation. Free stream flows with Mach number 0,70 at sea level and steady condition. Based on simulation research on NACA 0012 , with variation of angle of attack gave effection to lift force value while the biggest happened on 6° (23437,797 N) and on other side drag force stably generated while the biggest value happened on 15° (7686,822 N). The variation of angle of attack also gave effection in velocity distribution with simulation result showed that the airflow on the upper side flowed faster than the bottom and on the pressure distribution the bottom side experienced bigger pressure than the upper side of the airfoil.
