Abstract

Medicine is one of the supporting assets for patient survival. The occurrence of a drug vacuum or drug excess will have an impact medically and economically. The Ernaldi Bahar Hospital Pharmacy Installation experienced shortages and excess of drug stock for 3 consecutive quarters, namely: in 2018 there were 29 items, 35 items and 40 items, while the stockouts in 2019 were 25 items, 27 items and 35 items. For this reason, it is necessary to carry out an analysis of drug management as a basis for controlling safety stock on stagnation and stockout at Ernaldi Bahar Hospital, South Sumatra Province. This research uses a qualitative approach. The informants in this study were 4 people who were selected by purposive sampling by conducting in-depth interviews, observation and document review. The validity test used triangulation of sources, methods and data. Data analysis used a content analysis approach. The results showed that the management of pharmaceutical inventory management at Ernaldi Bahar Hospital, South Sumatra Province had not been implemented optimally. This can be seen from the inadequate human resources in quantity for the type of class A hospital, management guidelines that are not completely available, the planning process has not been maximized and the total percentage of the number of drugs to be procured that will be planned is not in accordance with the standard, namely at 85% from 100-120%. Suggestions that can be given include the need to increase human resources at the pharmacy installation, conduct periodic training to improve jobdesk, improve communication between pharmacy officers and DPJP. It is necessary to add special procedures when conditions are stagnant and stockout, so that the management process in pharmaceutical installations is more structured.
