Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out how the construction of political news in Warta Sumsel South Sumatra TVRI ahead of the 2019 presidential election (January-February 2019 period). This type of research was descriptive research which aimed to describe the phenomenon of the problems that existed in words. The method used in this study was a qualitative research method. The type of descriptive qualitative writing in this research means that researchers were intended to describe the phenomena that existed in words not based on statistical calculations (numbers) but derived from interview scripts, field notes, personal documents, and other documents. Therefore, this research can be concluded that carrying out the Editorial Management of a news program is very important especially for Warta Sumsel News program on South Sumatra TVRI in order to provide good and true information to the public. Warta Sumsel News program has carried out its editorial management well that made this program as the best program of Anugerah Gemilang from South Sumatra KPID.
