Abstract
A research about hydrocracking bio oil pyrolysis product of palm empty fruit bunch using a /ZNA (Zeolite Natural Active) catalyst was conducted. The catalyst characterization included the acidity test of /ZNA catalyst with ammonia and pyridine adsorption and /ZNA catalyst crystallinity with XRD. The ability of the /ZNA catalyst to adsorb ammonia and pyridine express the magnitude of the acidity value of the solid which one of the catalyst characters. Cr metal impregnation in ZNA can increase the acidity of the catalyst. The hydrocracking optimization includes the hydrogen gas flow rate of 1; 1.5; 2; 2.5; 3 L/mnt, temperature variations of 450, 500, 550, 600, 650, 700, 750 ℃ and variations of catalyst weight of 0.5; 1; 1.5; 2; 2.5 g. Adsorption of ammonia showed increased acidity value from 0.4087 mmol/g for ZNA to 9.9238 mmol/g for /ZAA . Similarly for pyridine adsorption increased from 0.8659 mmol/g to ZAA to 0.9803 mmol/g for /ZAA . Diffractogram results of /ZAA catalyst characterization with XRD showed high crystallinity seen from sharp and pointed peaks. The results showed that the optimum condition occurred at the gas flow rate of H2 2.5 L/mnt with the hydrocracking product weight of 0.9584 g/ml. The optimum temperature of the hydrocracking process was at 500 ℃ with a specific gravity of 0.2547 g/ml. The optimum weight of /ZAA catalyst was obtained 1.5 g with specific gravity of 0.9591 g/ml. Analysis with Gas Cromatography Mass Spectrometry (GCMS) apparatus indicates the occurrence of bond breaking as indicated by increasing number of straight chain compounds.
