Abstract

This study aims to determine the language acquisition of 1 to 3 years old children in Persada village, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study with a qualitative approach and descriptive method. The subjects of this study were three children and their mothers who were housewives as the informants. The results of this study indicate: 1. Children make parents and people them as a role model in speak verbally; 2. Children's language is obtained from parenting, stimulus, also the results of imitation and repetition of words or utterances that they heard; 3. Language that used by children is used by their parents at home, which is Palembang language; 4. Children's language acquisition is being slowly caused by the lack of stimulus given by their mother especially in adding new vocabulary, the habits of following children unclear pronunciation, the lack of inviting them in social activities, and let them playing with other children around them. 5. Children learn from what they seen and heard. When children often hear the words spoken by parents and other adults, those words will be familiar and they can recite it. 6. Children language acquisition that is fast, slow and in accordance with the stage of children development is influenced by children environment; 7. Children's intelligence will affect the way children understand the invitations, questions or commands from people in their neighbourhood. 8. Economic conditions do not affect the childrean language acquisition. 9. he rate of children language acquisition is not influenced by the number of siblings.
