Abstract

Synthesis of layered double hydroxide Zn/Cr and Zn/Al with copresipitation has been done. The synthesis of layered double hydroxide materials Zn/Cr and Zn/Al was applied to adsorption pure congo red. Layered double hydroxide was characterized using spektrofotometer FT-IR and XRD. The result by using XRD characterization was showed the basal spasing of layered double hydroxide Zn/Al was 7.574 Ǻ at 11.674º and layered double hydroxide Zn/Cr has basal spasing 7.32 Ǻ at 12.09º. Characterization by using FT-IR showed that the spesific area of layered double hydroxide appears at 424.34 cm-1 from Zn-O vibration and 771.53 cm-1 from Al-O, 848.68 cm-1 showed Cr-O vibration. Pzc from layered double hydroxide Zn/Cr and Zn/Al was at pH 10. This showed that layered double hydroxide Zn/Cr and Zn/Al stable at pH 10. Layered double hydroxide Zn/Cr has adsorption rate 0.0375 g/mg minute, adsorption rate from layered double hydroxide Zn/Al is 0.0079 g/mg minute. The adsorption energy of Zn/Cr layered double hydroxide adsorbent was 86.599 kJ/mol and Zn/Al was 93.8376 kJ/mol at 70 oC.
