Abstract
Ogan Ilir district placed the fifth rank of the tuberculosis incident in South Sumatra and Puskesmas Indralaya placed the first rank of tuberculosis case from 25 puskesmas in Ogan Ilir district in 2017. This study aimed to analyse correlation between residential factors with TBC sufferers in working area of Puskesmas Indralaya Ogan Ilir district in 2018. This study used case control study design to learn the correlation exposure and the disease, by comparing exposure degree between case group and control group based on exposure status. Analysis using Chi-Square show correlation between dampness and TBC sufferers (p-value = 0,023; OR = 3,735; CI = 1,314-10,618) and smoking habit with TBC sufferers (p-value = 0,000; OR = 7,667; CI = 2,524-23,284). There were no correlation between temperature (p-value =0,452), lighting (p-value = 0,508), ventilation (p-value = 0,602), occupancy density (p-value = 0,613), floor condition (p-valeu = 0,773) and home wall condition (p-value = 0,584),and income (p-value = 0,602) with TBC sufferers. Correlation among home dampness and smoking area with TBC sufferers in working area of Puskesmas Indralaya caused by habit of community closing their windows then caused dampness in home and known that there were many TBC sufferers who smoked it was feared could cause tuberculosis bactery infection getting worse. Therefore it is necessary to increase public awareness to maintain the health of the physical condition of the house, especially by opening the windows everyday in order to resolve dampnes and stop smoking because it can cause a decrease in lung organ function and TBC sufferers can worsen tuberculosis bacterial infection. In additions, it is considered necessary to increase public awareness in clean living behavior, for example by using a mask when coughing and not throwing sputum in any place and ligently washing your hands.
