Abstract

Outpatient utilization in Indonesia has experienced ups and downs. According to BPS data, in 2016 the percentage of the population utilized outpatient services was 56.27%, in 2017 it was 46.32 and in 2018 it was 48.66%. This study aimed to analyze the utilization of outpatient services in Indonesia using Susenas 2019. This research is a quantitative study using secondary data from 2019 National Socio-Economic Survey, the Health and Housing Module. This study used a cross-sectional study design. The analysis used in this study included univariate analysis, bivariate analysis and multivariate analysis. The results showed that the respondents who utilized outpatient services were 45.4%. The results of the bivariate analysis in this study showed that the variable age (p-value <0.0001), gender (p-value <0.0001), employment status (p-value <0.0001), marital status (p-value <0.0001), education level (p-value <0.0001), area of residence (p-value <0.0001), and type of insurance ownership (p-value <0.0001) have a significant association with outpatient services utilization. The variable age of children under five is the most dominant variable related to the utilization of outpatient services in Indonesia (p-value <0.0001; PR of 2.363 (95% CI = 2.229-2.506) after controlled by other variables. The government's efforts to increase the degree of public health for children under five by increasing the Integrated Management of Under-five Sick programs such as optimizing the role of mothers, and cadres.
