Abstract

The objectives of this research were to: (1) Describe the functions of UPPB Maju Bersama in Lalang Sembawa Village based on Minister of Agriculture Regulation No. 38 of 2008; (2) Measure incomes of rubber farmer in Lalang Sembawa Village, (3) Measuere marketing margins and farmer’s share of rubber farmers member of UPPB; (4) Identify the factors that influence the decision of rubber farmers do the organized marketing in Lalang Sembawa Village Sembawa District Banyuasin Regency. This research was conducted in Lalang Sembawa Village Sembawa District Banyuasin Regency on July to September 2017. The research location was chosen purposively with the consideration there are two marketing system in the village, i.e. traditional and organized marketing (in this case is UPPB). The research method used in this research was survey method. The sampling method used was disproportional stratified random sampling with 2 layers of sample farmers, which are 30 sample farmers from organized marketing system (UPPB) and 30 sample farmers from traditional marketing system. The results indicated if the processing and marketing functions in UPPB Maju Bersama has been running quite well with based on Permentan No. 38 of 2008. In processing function technical personnel have not been active in developing farmers for rubber processing activities. In marketing function the lack only from the capital lending side which was not yet available for UPPB members. The average income of rubber farmers from organized marketing system more high than farmers from traditional marketing system. The average income of rubber farmers from organized marketing system was IDR 61,512,451 and The average income of rubber farmers from traditional marketing system was IDR 17.660.388 per cultivated area per year. The average margin marketing from wholesellers who join UPPB in Lalang Sembawa Village was IDR 1,301 per kilogram per rubber.The average farmer’s share earned by farmers who join in UPPB was 84 percent. The factors that influence the decision of the rubber farmers do the organized marketing were number of family members, land area and bargaining position of farmers. While age factor, farming experience, land tenure status, and price transparency have no significant on farmer decision in choosing organized market.
