Abstract

This research was aimed at (1) analyzing the effect of Street parking fee collection on the public expenses, and (2) the effectiveness of such collection in Palembang City. The research result show that Street parking fee collection along Col. Atmo Street effected the public expenses, both in negative and positive ways. The positive effect was that the public car owners had access to their destination and they contributed incomes for the city. The negative effect was that the areas for the parking created hindrances to other passing cars, they created traffic jams along Street. The parking fee collection was less effective. The fee collectors found it to manage the system because no inventory was created yet and public users broke the parking rules and caused traffic jams along Col. Atmo Street. In order to prevent illegal fee collection, the Palembang City is recommended to create off Street parking. The system will minimize traffic jams along the Street.
