Abstract

This research was intended to analyze (1) the potential for the revenues of entertainment taxes and (2) effectiveness and efficiency leves of such tax collection in Palembang City. The research results show that the potential for the revenues of entertainment taxes was estimated to be a bid source. In the period of 2004 - 2006, the targeted taxes were not achieved by the City Government, therefore such source was not effectively utilized. If the collection system were fiilly applied, the City Government could have collected more revenues. Therefore, it could improve the effectiveness level. To achieve maximum potential for the entertainment taxes, the tax collectors were recommended to perform better. Therefore, they could achieve better results. Tax payers should be aware of their contribution to help the City Government receive enough taxes.
