Abstract

This research was intended to analyze the potential for revenues of traffic light taxes and the effectives of such taxes in the five year period of 2006 -2011. The secondary data included those collected from publications by city agencies such as Office ofTax Revenues of Palembang City, PT PLN Persero W.S2JB of Palembang Branch in the time series mentioned. The methode applied was a calculated and estimated potential for the revenues of traffic light taxes. The research results show that there was a big discrepancy between the potential and the revenues realized. In other words, the revenues of traffic light taxes were not maximized. In addition, collection and management of these taxes were less effective. To increase the revenues, the Office is recommended to undertake a survey and collect data on the potential for the revenues. The Office should have current on electrical bills of big payers and certain customers, and work closely PT PLN Persero W.2SJB of Palembang Branch. This strategy prevents from creating wrong estimates for the collected taxes.
