Abstract

This study aims to study the community economic empowerment strategy in the village of Kuala Sungai Jeruju Cengal sub-district, Ogan Komering ilir through a village program to care about peat, the peat restoration Society and the inhibiting factors of the empowerment effort. By using qualitative research methods that analyze descriptively with strategies and inhibiting factors of empowerment in the community of Kuala Sungai Jeruju Village. This research uses empowerment strategy theory by Harry Hikmat then supported by the concept of economic empowerment strategy from Mark G. Hanna and Buddy Robinson. Data collection was obtained through direct collection which began with social gathering to strengthen safety and empowerment at the research site and conduct interviews in 5 main informants and 10 supporting informants. The results of this study indicate that the strategy of economic empowerment in the village of Kuala Jeruju Sungai sub-district Cengal through village programs concerned about the community can be supported by the assistance of agricultural products and distribution, while the constraints on assistance related to government programs will, if needed, the local government. what is obtained will be well integrated and more optimal for increasing the economic carrying capacity of the community
