Abstract

The purpose of this study was to (1) identify the social and economic condition tidal rice farmers in the district of Margatani , (2) calculated poverty tidal rice farmers in the district of Margatani, (3) to analyze the factors that influence poverty tidal rice farmers in the district of Tanjung Lago. This research was conducted in the district of Tanjung Lago Banyuasin. The method used in this research is survey method. The data obtained were processed tabulation field then elaborated descriptively in accordance with the objectives to be achieved. Primary data and secondary data obtained were processed and analyzed using two ways, namely by kuantiatif and qualitatively. Quantitative data analysis was conducted using tabulations were processed using Excel program. While the qualitative data presented in descriptive form to support the quantitative data. Factors that influence poverty tidal rice farmers were analyzed using logistic regression analysis. Socio-economic conditions in the district of Margatani include education, employment and income. In terms of education, the majority of tidal rice farmers have not completed education by category SD as much as 45,00%. In terms of employment, all tidal rice farmers have a primary job as a farmer but only 25,00% who have a second job outside the farm such as trade, porters and so on. In terms of income, the average income of rice farmers in rice farming tidal Rp 17,461,733 per year, corn farming income of Rp 7.15449 million per year and non-farming income of Rp 7.43 million per year. So the average total income received by the tidal rice farmers is Rp 24,616,223 per year. The poverty rate tidal rice farmers have a percentage of 27,50% or as much as 11 farmers included in the category of poor based on BPS poverty indicators, while based on BKKBN Criteria Indicators average farmer sample Prosperous They include the category II with an average score of 40.9. Factors used in the logistic regression analysis is education, land area, number of dependents age of farmers and growers. Logistic regression analysis showed that all of the non-significant variables on poverty at α = 0,05.
