Abstract

This research is aimed at (1) finding out how well Islamic banks in Indonesia run at present, and (2) identifying the factors that influence their performance. The research results show that the Islamic banks in Indonesia run well in the period of 2006 to 2010. The CAR variable influences the financial performance in a positive way whereas the liquidity variable (FDR) and the rentalibility variable (BOPO) do so in negative way. In other words, the Islamic banks should maximize the flow o f their resources on benefit assets and be careful in providing funds in order to increase their profits and minimize financial risks. Negative liquidity is caused by the sharing risks and bome by the banks, and therefore the ROA is reduced. BOPO influences ROA in a negative way because these banks are not efficient in their operation to utilize big profits.
