Abstract

Tin is a silvery white metal with low hardness and strength, but has high electrical conductivity. Tin sand obtained from mining generally has a low tin content. So that processing efforts are needed to increase the tin content in the tin sand. In this study, shaking table was used to increase the level of Sn in tin sand. The use of this tool is intended for tin sand to increase in Sn content reaching 72-74% so that it can meet the requirements as a raw material for smelting. In an effort to increase the level of Sn in tin sand by using a shaking table concentration tool, it was done by varying the stroke frequency and the slope of the riffle. Based on the results of the research, the lowest Sn level value was 43,79% in the 30x / minute stroke frequency experiment with a 40˚ riffle slope. The highest Sn level was resulted from an experiment with a stroke frequency of 60x / minute with a slope of 0 riffle, which was 72,04% and only resulted in 1,14% losses, this experiment was an experiment with the best criteria which resulted in a value of Sn content ≥ 72% which has met requirements as raw material for smelting in the smelter industry. The highest And Losses from this study resulted from experiments with a stroke frequency of 90x / minute and a riffle slope of 0˚, which is 15,40%.
