Abstract

Physical properties of minerals are properties possessed by a mineral which is used to identify a type of mineral. In this research, we will look at the variations in the value of the magnetic susceptibility of rocks and identify what types of minerals are contained in the research area. In the geothermal area of Tanjung Sakti Pumi, Lahat, South Sumatra, there is a manifestation of geothermal energy in the form of hot springs coming out of the riverbank with relatively high temperatures ranging from 30°C - 80°C and due to the presence of hot rocks who are in the area. This research uses the rock magnetic method or the rock magnetic method. The rock magnetic method is one of the geophysical research methods used to identify the magnetic minerals of a rock by utilizing the magnetic properties of the rock against the magnetic physical parameters of the sample being studied. The physical parameter measured this time is magnetic susceptibility. Based on the results of research conducted, the magnetic susceptibility value at the research point ranged from ilmenite mineral content.
