Abstract

Coal which have been exploited at Lahat then will be distributed to Kertapati Port through Train Loading Station (TLS) that is located in Sukacinta, Lahat, supported by PT. Kereta Api Logistik (KALog). The coal transport process to Kertapati is using a train with the volume 50 metric ton/flat carriage. The coal which is delivered from Sukacinta stockpile to Kertapati stockpile often experienced grade alteration of quality which are total moisture, ash content, and calorific value. Coal quality of MAS-48 that delivered from Sukacinta to Kertapati have decreasing of total moisture in the average of 1,38 %, ash content in the average of 0,39 %, and increasing of calorific value in the average of 137 kcal/kg. Decreasing of coal total moisture is caused by natural warming and not so high rainfall intensity. The decreasing of coal total moisture will cause coal surface becoming dry so it make dust or other impurities are not easily sticked to coal. Of course this will lead to coal ash content also decrease. The decreasing of total moisture and ash content will make coal calorific value have increasing because calorific value is inversely proportional with total moisture and ash content. The lower total moisture and ash content of coal, the higher calorific value of coal.
