Abstract

The use of conventional energy as the electrical source energy has been widely used, but this energy can cause air polution and many bad effects for the environment. Sun energy is one of the alternative energy. With photovoltaic technology, the sunlight can be used as the electric source. In order to improve the performance of photovoltaic panel for producing electrical energy, many researches had been done and one of them was by using the cooling method and solar concentrator. This research aims to know the effect of cooling photovoltaic surface by using water and the usage of fresnel lens as a solar concentrator to improve photovoltaic panel. Based on the data obtained during the 14 days of data collection, it is found that the photovoltaic panel with fresnel lens produces 35.23 W electrical power and 7.3% efficiency, then the photovoltaic panel with water sprayer produces 25.8 W electrical power and 5.5 % efficiency. While the ordinary panel only produces 18.22 W electrical power and 3.7 % efficiency, it can be concluded that the use of fresnel lens and water sprayer can improve the performance of photovoltaic panel, where the performance of the photovoltaic panel with fresnel lens shows better result. Keywords: Cooler, Efficiency, Fresnel Lens, Photovoltaic Panel.
