Abstract

This research is concemed with an analysis of the influence of pricing strategy on the sales volume of prada cloth industry in Palembang City. The problems of the research are what strategy prada cloth producers use and how that strategy is related to the sales volumes. Industry and Trade Office of Palembang City indicates that there are 11 producers and they constitute the respondents for this research. The research results show that all producers use a relative pricing strategy, and this is common among small scale industries. This strategy results in negative relationship with the sales volumes. The cloth price increases, the sales decrease. This is due to the oligopoly nature of the market, and buyers are not accurate in receiving information. In conclusion, the prada cloth industry in Palembang is small scale type, the strategy shows a negative relationship with the sales volume, and the buyers do not receive accurate information on the price.
