Abstract

This study was aimed at analyzing the demand for consumer loans at banks in Palembang. The data used in this study were secondary ones taken from the I-IV quarterly data in the periods from 2002 to 2012. To analyze the data, Vector Auto regression (VAR) was applied. The stationary test and cointegration test resulted in Impuise Response Function (IRF) and Forecasting Error Variance Decomposition (FEVD). The result of Vector Autoregression (VAR) on the demand for consumer loans at national private banks showed that Gross National Product and Consumer’s Loan Rates in the long run had positive relationship with the demand for consumer loans and significantly influenced the demand for consumer’s loans in South Sumatera.
