Abstract
This research was aimed to find out the efficiency of the performance of Maggot dryer machine to drying result. This research has been conducted from January 2021 to March 2021 at the Laboratory of Agricultural Machinery and workshop, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, South Sumatera. The method used was Factorial Randomized Block Design (RAFK) with two research factors, namely the drying temperature (A) and the rotation of blower cylinder (B) with three levels of treatment and each treatment combination was repeated three times. The parameters of this research are drying rate (g/hour), water content of material (%), consumption of electrical energy (kWh), and drying efficiency (%). The results of this research showed that the treatment of the drying temperature had a real different on the drying rate, water content of material, consumption of electrical energy, and drying efficiency. The treatment of the rotation of blower cylinder had a real different on the drying rate, water content of material, consumption of electrical energy, and unreal effect on the drying efficiency. The highest drying rate value found in treatment of A3B1 which is 8.80 g/hour, the lowest water content of material value found in treatment A1B3 which is 9.04%, the highest consumption of electrical energy value found in treatment A3B3 which is 0.32 kWh, the highest drying efficiency value found in treatment A1B1 which is 31.10%. Drying efficiency is influenced by water content of material, the higher water content of material, the lower drying efficiency. Drying efficiency is also influenced by the consumption of electrical energy, the higher consumption of electrical energy, the lower drying efficiency.
