Abstract
Anthracnose attack caused by the fungus Colletotrichum gloeosporioides (Penz.) Sacc on papaya fruit can result in a decrease in production yields both in quantity and quality ranging from 40-93%. The use of chemical compounds in plants that have antifungal activity can reduce the negative effects of using synthetic pesticides. Citronella leaves and papaya leaves have secondary metabolite compounds that have potential as antifungals such as saponins, flavonoids, alkaloids, steroids, tannins, and essential oils. The purpose of this study was to determine the inhibitory power of citronella leaf extract and papaya leaves singly or in combination in inhibiting C. gloeosporioides. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with an in vitro inhibition test. Data analysis used analysis of variance and further test was carried out with honest real difference (BNJ) at the 5% level. The results showed that the application of citronella leaf extract and papaya leaf extract had a significant effect on the diameter of colony growth, the percentage of inhibition and the mycelium biomass of the fungus. However, it did not affect the spore density of the fungus C. gloeosporioides.
