Abstract

The research on Avifauna or bird species in the Tanjung Api-Api Region of South Sumatra Province has been done. This study aims to determine the types and describe the morphological characters of the types that found. This research uses direct observation method and Point count method. Specimens are documented using the camera. Data were analyzed descriptively using field manual book. The results of this study found that twelve species of birds, also it classified in nine Familli that includes Familli Ardeidae (Bubulcus ibis, Ardea purpurea, Ardeola speciosa), Familli Anatidae (Dendrocygna javanica), Familli Accipitrridae (Heliatus leugaster), Familli Recurvirostridae (Himantropus leucocaphalus) Familli Hirundindae (Delichon daesypus), Familli Pycnononotidae (Pycnonotus augrigaster), Familli Cuculidae (Eudynamys scolapacea), Familli Ploceidae (Panzer montanus) and Familli Columbidae (Streptopelia chinensis, Geopelia striata). The morphological character of each species are varies. The result of the research is expected to be used as the initial information for the next research as well as become the source of learning on the learning of Biology in the second semester of grade X with Basic Competence 3.2. Analyze the observed data on different levels of biodiversity (genes, species and ecosystems) in Indonesia
