Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kategori pemahaman konsep dan profil miskonsepsi siswa SMP dan SMA sekecamatan Kemuning, Palembang pada materi massa jenis. Penelitian dilakukan di SMPN dan SMAN sekecamatan Kemuning yang dipilih dengan metode purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan Density Survey (DS) yang dimodifikasi menjadi bentuk three-tier sebanyak 10 soal. Data dianalisis dan dicari persentase tingkat pemahaman konsep siswa berdasarkan 4 kategori pemahaman konsep dengan metode deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tingkat pemahaman konsep berdasarkan kategori pemahaman konsep, yaitu Memahami Konsep (MK), Paham Lack of Knowledge (LK), Error (E), dan Miskonsepsi (M) pada siswa SMP secara berurutan adalah sebesar 28,37%, 14,35%, 30,54%, dan 26,74%, sedangkan pada siswa SMA secara berurutan adalah 39,23%, 25,08%, 21,85%, dan 13,85%. Siswa memiliki banyak miskonsepsi siswa volume berbanding terbalik dengan massa jenis pada butir soal nomor 2, 4, dan 5. Persentase memahami konsep pada siswa SMA lebih tinggi daripada siswa SMP, sedangkan persentase miskonsepsi pada siswa SMP lebih tinggi daripada SMA.
