Abstract
The research is about the type of wasps (Hymenoptera: Vespidae) located in the plateau of Hill Region Pematang Aur in Karang Endah Village Kota Agung District of Lahat Regency. The study aims to obtain information about the type and character of the wasp morphology contained in the region. The study used descriptive method with research time May to June 2017. The capture of specimens using active search and attractive traps.Active search by catching wasps that fly using insect webs and nest searches using protective clothing. Attractive trap using attractive solution and light trap. The wasp type was analyzed and identified to identify the name and description of the type of wasps. The morphology of a wasps is identified by its morophology character, including oral devices, prothorax, mesothorax, metatorax, wings, legs, and abdomen, as well as body colors. Based on the research results found as many as 3 subfamilies with 15 types. The most common types found in the Polistinae are Parapolybia varia, Ropalidia sumatrae, Ropalidia marginata, Ropalidia flavopicta, Polistes tenebricosus, and Polistes sp. In addition, the results of this study can be used as a contribution of biology learning in high school as a learning tool in Basic Competence 3.9. Apply the classification principle to classify animals into phyla based on body shape, body symmetry, body cavity and reproduction.
