Abstract

Shrub pepper is one of the spice plants that has a high demand in and out the country, this shrub pepper plant is widely used for many kind of necessity. This study purpose is to intend the effect of vermicompost and liquid organic fertilizer on soil water level, soil pH, and P nutrients of soil and plants and also the growth of pepper shrub in floating agriculture system. This research has been executed in the Pond and Laboratory of Chemistry, Biology, and Soil Fertility, Department of Soil, the faculty of agriculture, Sriwijaya University from October 2020 to January 2021. This study used a factorial randomized block design, which consisted of 2 factors. The first factor was the vermicompost with 5 levels, V0 (0 g plant-1 ), V1 (250 g plant-1 ), V2 (500 g plant�1 ), V3 (750 g plant-1 ), V4 (1000 g plant-1 ). The second factor is liquid organic fertilizer consisting of 2 levels, P1 (0 ml plant-1 ) and P2 (50 ml plant-1 ). The results showed vermicompost treatment had a real effect to the soil water levels, but the combination treatment of vermicompost and organic liquid fertilizer had no effect for on soil P and the growth of flower stalks. There is a real interaction between the treatment of vermicompost and liquid organic fertilizer against soil pH and Pnutrient of plant in herbaceous pepper plants, but the treatment of vermicompost and liquid organic fertilizer does not occur any real interactions to soil water content, soil P and the growth of herbaceous pepper plants. The combination of vermicompost treatment (1000 g plant-1 ) and liquid organic fertilizer (50 ml plant-1 ) provides the best response to soil water content, soil pH, soil P and plant as well as the growth of herbaceous pepper.
