Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between senior high school background and high school mathematics scores. High school background seen from the school location and the origin of the school. High school mathematics scores as seen from the average math grades for junior high school, senior high school and national examination in mathematics. The research method that used is a survey through a questionnaire to new students of FMIPA and FP Sriwijaya University. Data were analyzed using contingency tables and correspondence analysis with the help of multiple correlation analysis. Based on the results of data processing and analysis, it was concluded that those related to mastery of basic mathematical concepts were the school location, the average math grades junior high school, the average math grades high school and national examination in mathematics score only affects 16.9% diversity.
