Abstract
Preparation of submicroscopic particle gel for henna leaf extract (Lawsonia inermis Linn.) to increase the stability and penetration power of the active substance. This study to determine the effect of variations in the concentration of propylene glycol on physical and antibacterial characteristics on Staphylococcus aureus by using the well method and calculating the diameter of its inhibitory power. Variations of propylene glycol used were 5%, 10%, and 15%. The results showed that gel with increased concentrations of propylene glycol affected the dispersion, viscosity, and antibacterial activity. The best formula in this study is formula 3 with a concentration of propylene glycol 15% with a test of adhesion, spreadability, washability, pH, viscosity, homogeneity and stability, respectively 4.76 ± 0.1101 seconds; 3.73 ± 0.0577 cm; 11.66 ± 0.7637 mL; 6.47 ± 0.0737; 2,778.50 ± 112.1753 cP; homogeneous and stable. Also, the results of the antibacterial activity test gave an inhibition zone of 16 ± 1 mm and included a strong inhibitory power. The results of the One way ANOVA statistical test showed that there were significant differences between the treatment groups (sig <0.05).
