Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the development of tendrils in five types of cucurbitaceae plants. This type of research uses a descriptive method, namely describing the morphology of the Cucurbitaceae plant tendrils, the plants are planted first through the process of seeding and planting. The plants used were Luffa acutangula, Momordica charantia, Cucumis sativus, Lagenaria siceraria, and Trichosanthes anguina L.. The results showed that the fastest tendrils grew on Cucumis sativus and Momordica charantia on 16th day after planting (Days After Planting) and late vines grew on plant Trichosanthes anguina L. 26 DAP. The tendrils emerge from the leaf axils, are modifications of the twisted branches. The tendril has two twisting directions, namely twisting towards the right and twisting towards the left, the direction of twisting the tendril is the same as the direction of the spiral spiral of the tendril. Cucurbitaceae plants have only one vine per book. The results of this study are used as additional information for learning Biology in SMP class VIII in K.D 3.2 Understanding straight motion, and the effect of force on motion based on Newton's Laws, as well as its application to the motion of living things and the motion of objects in the form of booklets. The results of the study concluded that the five types of cucurbitaaceae plants had the same origin of tendrils, the direction of the tendrils and the number of tendrils that differentiated the time of vines growing and the number of branches of the tendrils, then Booklets could be used in learning but with little improvement.
