Abstract

Until now, palm oil leaves have not been utilized, even though they have the potential to be used as animal feed, including fish. The purpose of this study was to determine the percentage of oil palm leaf flour to replace bran in gouramy feed formulations. The study was conducted in August-September 2018. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications. The treatment given is the percentage of combined oil palm leaf flour with different bran in the formulation of gouramy feed namely 0%: 10% (P0), 2.5%: 7.5% (P1), 5%: 5% (P2) 7.5%: 2.5% (P3) and 10%: 0% (P4). Research parameters include growth, feed efficiency, fish survival, and water quality. The results showed a combination of oil palm leaf flour with bran as much as 7.5%: 2.5% in the feed formulation caused the highest absolute weight growth of gouramy fish at 4.15g and feed efficiency at 52.10%. Water quality during the study is still in a range that can be tolerated by carp. Water temperature ranges from 27.6-30.8 0C, pH ranges from 6.6-7.9, dissolved oxygen ranges from 4.8 to 5.9 mg. L-1 and ammonia ranges from 0.010 to 0.019 mg. L-1. Keywords: bran, gouramy fish, fish feed, palm leaf flour.
