Abstract

The research was conducted that aimed to determine the differences on natural growth patterns and intraspecies relationship of fishpond (Helostoma temmincki) from three rivers in South Sumatera based on morphometric characters. This studi use descriptive method. Samples were collected from Musi River (60 fish), Ogan River (60 fish), and Kelekar River (60 fish) use nets fishing gear. Quantitative data was analyzed by the Main Component Analysis (Principle Component, CPC) and NTSYS program. The results showed that there was a difference of growth pattern on each observed biological character. It was known that a positive allometric pattern (slope> 0.3) was owned on each of the fish characteristic of the Musi River, Ogan River and Kelekar River that was total length (PT), standard length (PB), height (TB), width (LB), long front of anal fin (PDMSD), base length of dorsal fin (PDSP), head length (PK), and head height (TK). Total length character (PT), standard length (PB), height (TB), width (LB), height of tail steam (TBE), length of dorsal fin (PDMSP), head length (PK), and head height (PK) of fish from Musi River, Ogan River and Kelekar River showed negative alometry (slope <0.3). The height character of the tail rod (TBE) of fish from the Musi River, and the length of the dorsal fin (PDMSP) of fish originating from the Ogan River experience an isometric growth pattern (slope = 0.3). The connection of intraspesies between populations indicates a similarity of form. Based on the results of the dendrogram, the population from the Ogan and Kelekar Rivers have similarities. While the population from the Musi River was a group that’s not similar to other groups. This research result information is expected to become alternative of constextual example on biology learning of grad X on Basic Competence 3.2 Analyzing data of observation result about various level of biodiversity (genes, types, and ecosystems) in Indonesia also the threat and the preservation and the preservation and Basic Competence 4.2 presenting observation result of various level of biodiversity (genes, types, and ecosystems) in Indonesia and proposed effort to conserve biodiversity of Indonesia based on data analysis result of the threat of sustainability of the diversity of animals and plants typical of Indonesia in various forms of information media. The result of this research will be contributed in form of learning media (lesson plans, and student work sheet).
