Abstract

Eggplant have a high economic and social value in Indonesia. Eggplants also have benefits for the body as tradional medicine. Therefore, to full fill market needs, it is necessary to cultivate the eggplants. The main problem of vegetable cultivation that is now experienced by farmers is the attack of yellow virus pathogens. The worst attack rate was founded in eggplant that can reach until 100%. As a result of these attacks eggplants production has dropped dramatically. Curly yellow virus desease in eggplant caused by geminivirus. This study aims to determine the distribution of curly yellow virus desease on eggplant in North Indralaya District. This study uses survey method by observing directly the disease in the field and conducting interviews to find out the history of the land and how the farmer grow crops. Observations were made in 5 farmers lands in North Indralaya District. Observations are included the symptoms and disease diversity as well as Area Under the Disease Progress Curve (AUDPC). The result showed that, all plant observed more or less have been infected by the viruses with percentage of disease incidence by 52%. The highest percentage of disease severity was observed on the 1st farmer's land with by 51.25%, while the lower one was observed on the 4th farmer land by 8.50%.
