Abstract

This research is aimed at identifying the influence of balancing funds on the regional discrepancy of and among 15 city govemments and counties in South Sumatra Province. The dependent variable is the regional discrepancy in the province whereas the independent ones are allotted public funds (DAU), special funds (DAK), and sharing funds (DBH). The data were taken from panel report s of 2008 - 2012 from each city govemment or county. This research used Williamson Index and panel regression analysis, that is, Fixed EfFect Model. The research results show that there is a positive influence of DAU on the regional discrepancy as indicated by the value of 9.27. This also applies to DBD as indicated by the value of 4.37 meaning that if DAU or DBH increases then the discrepancy will also increase. Conversely, DAK shows a negative influence as indicated by the value of 1.43 meaning that if DAK increases then the discrepancy will decrease.
