Abstract

This study was aimed at finding out the influence of concentration ratio and efficiency on the profit gained by the Steel industry in Indonesia. The variables used as a proxy for profit gained were the concentration ratio (CR4), efficiency. and Price-Cost-Margin (PCM). The data used were the time series data from the year 1997 to 2011 which were obtained from the Indonesian Central Statistic Agency. The data used the 5-digit industrial classification system known as International Standard Industrial Classification (ISIC). This was a quantitative and qualitative study in which the data were analyzed using the multiple linear regression estimated by Ordinary Least Square (OLS). It was found that concentration ratio (CR4) and efficiency significantly and positively influenced the profit gained by the Steel industry in Indonesia.
