Abstract
Profenofos insecticide is an insecticide that is widely applied in agriculture because it is effective in eradicating insects and is easily biodegradable in nature. In addition to being beneficial in agriculture, insecticides can pollute the environment because they can cause the accumulation of toxic chemical compounds in addition to plant-disturbing insects as well as non-target organisms such as earthworms which play an important role as decomposers so it is necessary to conduct research on the impact of insecticides on earthworms. The research was conducted from December 2020 to April 2021, at the Animal Physiology Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. This research was conducted using an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 6 treatments with 5 repetitions for each treatment. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) for observational parameter data with 95% confidence level. Data that showed significant differences were then analyzed using Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at a level of = 0.05. Results of the analysis of variance with a 95% confidence level showed that the concentration of profenofos insecticide had a significant effect on the average body weight of Pheretima javanica Gates earthworm but had no significant effect on the average body weight gain and survival of Pheretima javanica Gates earthworm.
