Abstract

HIV/AIDS is a disease that poses a global threat throughout the world. HIV is not only a threat to the mother but also for the baby. Implementing integrated Antenatal Care service and HIV testing is very important to prevent transmission of HIV/AIDS from mother to baby. The purpose of this study was to determine the determinants of antenatal care adherence in pregnant women with HIV/AIDS. This research was an observational study which using a quantitative approach with a cross sectional study design on february until july 2021. The data sample is 32 mothers who have given birth with HIV/AIDS meet the inclusion criteria and were selected through total sampling technique. Data was collected by interview method using a questionnaire. The result of this study showed that respondents who comply with antenatal care (ANC) visits are 71.9%. There are 3 factors that influence adherence to antenatal care visits in pregnant women with HIV/AIDS; stigma (p-value = 0,035; PR = 7,200; 95% CI = 1,311-39,557), knowledge (p-value = 0,049; PR = 5,667; 95% CI = 1,067-30,085), and attitudes (p-value = 0,018; PR = 12,444; 95% CI = 1,323-117,032). Other factors like age, level of education, occupation, parity, and family support did not have significant affects. Therefore, it is recommended to carry out health promotion by health workers related to HIV/AIDS to minimize stigma and discrimination, and family support is needed to increase the coverage of antenatal care for pregnant women with HIV/AIDS.
