Abstract
Diarrhea is a disease that is still a public health problem in developing countries including in Indonesia. Poor environmental sanitation is followed by poor individual hygiene behavior that can lead to high incidence of diarrhea. Limited access to clean water, environmental hygiene factors and poor personal hygiene are still health problems in the village of talang pangeran ilir and ulak kembahang II village of Pemulutan Subdistrict. The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship of personal hygiene and sanitation with the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers aged 1-5 years in the village talang pangeran ilir and village ulak kembahang II Pemulutan District. This research includes quantitative research using a cross sectional approach. The sample of this study amounted to 103 people. Purposive sampling techniques with data analysis using chi-square test. The results showed that variables related to the incidence of diarrhea means healthy latrines (p-value = <0.0001), salura wastewater disposal (p-value = < 0.0001), and hand washing using soap (p-value = < 0.0001). The unrelated variables in this study are the variable of clean water source (p-value = 1,000), the provision of clean water (p-value = 0.147), and the garbage shelter (p-value = 1,000). The advice in this study should improve personal hygiene and sanitation to reduce the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers. Keywords: Personal Hygiene, Sanitation, and Diarrhea Incidenc
